For Queer Liberation this Pride 2025!

Pride Month 2025 has been marked by existential attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. DEI rollbacks have made it incredibly clear that corporations and Wall Street are only fair weather friends, and even federal agencies have capitulated to Trump's fascist agenda which seeks to erase queer and trans people from history.

Attacks on trans youth are on the rise, including in Democrat-run states like New York, where the GOP in the State Senate has introduced bills that would allow school districts to ban trans girls from competing in girls’ sports. New York Democrats have been slow to condemn this bigoted overreach, and some have even facilitated the bills’ progression in the legislature.

Meanwhile, the National Parks Service has scrubbed all references to trans people on the Stonewall website in surrender to Trump's mandate to eliminate the trans experience from societal discourse. This is an insult to the trans women of color who have led the queer liberation movement from its beginning.

The trans community in particular has become a scapegoat of the fascist administration. We must not capitulate to these divisive attacks within our communities. The Democratic Party wants us to concede our human rights—to ”reach across the aisle” on questions of our livelihood.

Wherever their capitulationist tendency emerges, we will combat it. This Pride, the NY Young Communist League stands with its LGBTQ+ comrades and recognizes the urgent need for a radical LGBTQ+ movement led by trans people, people of color, and women, supported by people—not corporations—who will stand with the queer and trans community against Trump's neofascist agenda.

The New York YCL stands with its LGBTQ+ comrades in the militant struggle for queer liberation, an essential aspect of the fight for democracy against this new onslaught of fascist violence and repression.
